Case #843

Car sharing plan works smoothly and saves money

CarShare of Portland Oregon provides an example of the growing model of car sharing which is extremely popular in Europe. Typically a program fleet has a car for every 15-18 members and results in a total monthly fee around $60 for Steve & Amanda Gutman (Compare that to an average monthly car ownership cost for a modest sedan around $614!). This allows them to structure their lives utilizing mass transit and bicycling while offering the use of a car at a vastly reduced cost when it is a practical necessity over alternative transit.

This is a great model reducing fuel consumption and resource conservation. The program is well thought out and provides contingencies to address all circumstances.
